Deliberico was proud to sponsor this year's Spain's National Day celebration in Miami. The Consulate General of Spain in Miami organized the event, held on October 16 at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, in the presence of Consul General Belén Alfaro Hernández. As every year, we were there to share the best flavors of Spain, including Montaraz 100% Ibérico acorn-fed ham.
Spain's National Day celebration in Miami: a tradition at the Biltmore
Every year, the Spanish community in South Florida comes together for Spain's National Day celebration in Miami. This year's celebration took place on October 16 at the Biltmore Hotel, a landmark of Coral Gables. Consul General Belén Alfaro Hernández was among the guests, and the Consulate General of Spain in Miami was the host.
For Deliberico, taking part in this event is a way to give back to a community that shares our love for Spanish food and culture. We support the celebration every year, and we also take part in it: we present a selection of Spanish products so that guests can taste what Spain has to offer. Deliberico appears among the sponsors thanked on the event banner, and our founder and CEO, Ana Hernández, was there with the Consul General.
Montaraz Ibérico ham: Spain's flavor on the table
Among the flavors we showed was Montaraz ham. Montaraz is a family-run company from Frades de la Sierra, in Salamanca, that has made Ibérico ham and cured meats since 1890 and is now in its fifth generation. Its Ibérico pigs come from the dehesa (oak meadows) of Extremadura, and its hams are cured slowly in natural drying sheds. At the Montaraz station, a whole ham on its stand sat beside plates of sliced ham ready to taste.
The ham we shared is bellota (acorn-fed), which means it comes from Ibérico pigs that fatten on acorns in the dehesa. Ibérico ham is at its best sliced thin, served at room temperature, so the fat melts on the palate. That is why it is a natural choice for a celebration: it needs nothing more than good company.
