INGREDIENTS:
For the Hummus:
- 1 ½ cups cooked white beans or substitute with chickpeas by El Navarrico
- ½ cup pumpkin purée
- 2 tablespoons tahini
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil Oro Virgen
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Finger Breadsticks:
- 1 package of ready-made breadstick dough
- 1 teaspoon Italian pesto (for flavor and color)
- White Truffle Almonds by Finca La Rosala (for the nails)
- Almonds (plain or smoked, for variety)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make the Pumpkin Hummus:
- In a food processor, combine the white beans (or chickpeas), pumpkin purée, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. If too thick, add a little water or olive oil to reach your desired consistency.
- Transfer the hummus to a bowl and swirl the top for a decorative touch. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Finger Breadsticks:
- Preheat the oven according to the breadstick dough package instructions.
- Split the dough in half.
For the Green Fingers:
- Add 1 teaspoon of Italian pesto to one half of the dough, kneading it until it is evenly green.
For the White Fingers:
- Leave the other half of the dough plain.
- Roll out both the plain and pesto doughs, cutting them into finger-length pieces (about 3–4 inches each).
- Shape each piece to resemble a finger, pressing lightly to create knuckles and using a knife to score small lines for added detail.
- Press a White Truffle Almond by Finca La Rosala into the tip of each breadstick to mimic a fingernail. For variety, use regular almonds on some fingers.
3. Bake:
- Place the green and white breadstick fingers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake according to the dough package instructions or until golden brown and firm.
4. Serve:
- Arrange the spooky white and green finger breadsticks around the pumpkin hummus for a fun, contrasting display.
- The pesto-infused green fingers add a pop of color and flavor, while the plain white ones offer a classic touch, both complemented by the flavor surprise of White Truffle Almonds.
This combination of both green and white breadstick fingers will create a haunting yet flavorful platter perfect for your Halloween gathering!
